FAQ

Your questions, answered

A doula offers continuous emotional, physical, and informational support before, during, and after birth. Haven extends that further, supporting your recovery and the identity shift of early motherhood, too.
A midwife is a trained medical provider who delivers your baby and oversees clinical care. A doula is non-clinical, present for comfort, advocacy, and steady support, working alongside your medical team.
Earlier is wonderful. Many families connect in the first or second trimester so we can build a relationship before birth. That said, it's never too late, and postpartum or matrescence support can begin anytime.
Yes. Wendy attends births in all hospitals, all birth centers, and any home birth across the New Braunfels area.
Haven serves New Braunfels and families within about 35 miles, including Canyon Lake, San Marcos, Seguin, and San Antonio.
Matrescence is the process of becoming a mother. This support tends the emotional, psychological, and identity-level changes of new motherhood, a space to feel held as you grow into this role. Learn more on the Matrescence page.
Birth support is a flat fee of $1,500, which includes our initial meeting, two prenatal appointments, your birth, and one postpartum visit. Postpartum care is $45 per hour daytime and $50 per hour overnight, booked in four-hour daytime or six-hour overnight sessions. We'll confirm the right fit together at your free consultation.
Plans shift, and that's okay. Haven offers calm, judgment-free presence whatever path your birth takes, including unexpected interventions, cesarean birth, or changes of heart.

Not sure which path is right? Let's find it together.
